Vitality: Hormonal, Nutritional, Sexual + Lifestyle Tweaks

I became an integrative physician when I found mainstream medicine failed to address the #1 issue my patients struggle with: decreased desire. I went rogue but not in a Sarah Palin way… more of a Dr. Christiane Northrup meets Dr. Andy Weil way. There are many reasons for low sex drive which goes hand in hand with low vitality pretty much across the board: too much stress hormones, waning thyroid function, estrogen dominance or not enough, stuck patterns in relationships, boring sex, nutrient-poor food.

I’d add 0.75 to 1.0 gram of protein/pound of lean body mass in women. For me at 125 pounds, that’s about 100 grams of protein per day. That’s the dose that best supports my hormone production, particularly my cute little adrenals.
