Unlock the Secrets to Hormone Health for Longevity and Vitality

My favorite podcast host in the past year was Andrew Huberman, PhD. We discussed hormones, gut health, the estrobolome, fertility, vitality, and longevity.

While our conversation focused on women’s health, the information we discussed often applies to both men and women. As a bioengineer turned OB/GYN turned precision and functional medicine expert, I have an unconventional perspective on the intersection of traditional medicine, nutrition, supplementation, and behavioral practices in optimizing hormonal health.

We discussed many topics, including the gut microbiome, which has a significant impact on hormone balance and metabolism. Women, in particular, have unique needs when it comes to managing their gut microbiome to optimize estrogen, testosterone, thyroid, and growth hormone levels.

We also talked about the importance of omega-3 fatty acids in hormone health and the best ways to obtain them through nutrition. Exercise is another critical factor in hormone health, and we discussed the optimal ratios of resistance training to cardiovascular training for both men and women.

Digestive issues are more prevalent in women than men, and we explored tools and strategies for overcoming these issues to improve hormone health. We also covered the importance of specific tests, such as urine and microbiome tests, for gaining a comprehensive understanding of hormone status.

We also dove into practical tips for managing stress and enhancing immunity, vital aspects of overall health and well-being for both genders that help to reduce the risk of chronic disease.
